Visualization and positive thinking are very important techniques of mind power
There are many techniques of mind power. Being able to harness the power of your mind can open many doors of opportunity to you that you can only dream of. In life there are many things you can’t control, but one thing you can learn to control is yourself. Begin by taking charge of your own mind. Learn to be in control of the thoughts that occupy your consciousness.
Mind power involves using the power of the mind to manifest what you want in life. It means keeping your mind under control at all times so that you are not getting in your own way.
People that have achieved great things against incredible odds – people like Helen Keller and Christopher Reeve – used techniques of mind power to keep going. They taught themselves to attain an optimal state of mind that went beyond positive thinking. They stretched themselves to truly meet their potential when most people would have given up.
To a certain extent, controlling your conscious thinking begins with getting in touch with your subconscious mind. It is a well-known fact that people use a fraction of their mind power. The human brain is capable of so much more than it is used for. Set a goal of using as much of this powerful tool as you possibly can.
Here are some techniques of mind power to consider:
Meditation. Meditation is a way to get in touch with your subconscious mind. The trick is learning to allow the mind to quiet down enough to meet its full potential. If you have never meditated before, you will be surprised how hard it is to silence all the inner chatter that is constantly going on in your head. Try sitting in a quiet room by candle light. Empty your mind of all thoughts but one: focus on a single word such as tranquility. For a beginner, this is easier said than done. Set a goal of quieting your mind and learning to focus for just one minute. When you have learned to control your mind enough to stay quiet for a single minute, try to increase your meditation time to two minutes. Build on small amounts of progress.
Visualization. Channel the power of your mind by visualizing exactly what you want to be and what you want to accomplish. If your goal is to lose weight, visualize how you will look when you have attained your goal. Picture yourself eating healthy foods and being more active. If your goal is a job change that you keep procrastinating, visualize yourself in the act of sending out a stack of resumes. Picture yourself approaching job interviews with self-assurance, shaking hands, smiling.
Clear your mind of all negativity. Being in control of your life requires being in control of your mind at all times. Self-defeating thoughts and negativity can’t be allowed to take over. If you develop a physical illness, you have two choices: to stay stuck in anger and self-pity, or to focus on what you have left and what you can make stronger.
It cannot be overemphasized how much bringing your thoughts under control will change your life. Begin using these techniques of mind power and truly begin to meet your potential.
